I've been in the insurance industry since 1989. I worked for State Farm Corporate for 10 years before being promoted as a Life/Health Specialist in AZ in 1998 with State Farm. It was in 1998 that I moved my family to Fountain Hills, AZ. After 2 years in my new position, I decided that I wanted to open an agency where I live and my kids attend school. The opportunity to become an American Family Agent was offered to me in October of 2000. I opened a 'scratch agency' and joined the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce on Day 1!! My agency has grown through my marketing and networking efforts paired with my knowledge and support of well qualified licensed staff. My office is located on The Ave of the Fountain and I love taking an active role in this great community. I moved from New Hampshire in 2007, arrived on St Patrick?s Day to the green fountain! Betsy grew up in Glendale, Arizona, and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Management from Arizona State University.  In 1995, Betsy moved to Southeast Missouri where she obtained her teaching certificate, teaching 11 years in junior high and high school.  She as a passion for helping students find success in math.  Betsy has also earned a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governor’s University. In October 2018, Betsy and her sister, Tammie, purchased and now own Mathnasium of Desert Ridge.  They are excited about the opportunity to expand into Fountain Hills with Mathnasium of Fountain Hills.  They both are excited about joining the community and helping students develop a love of math.

Originally from West Bloomfield Michigan, Jay's parents John & Dawn Schlum moved the family to Fountain Hills in 1977. The Schlum's were early day Real Estate pioneers and Jay followed in his parents real estate footsteps.
